Personal Chef Karen McGinn went to the White House!
The First Lady has started a campaign called Let’s Move! designed to solve the childhood obesity epidemic in America.  Chef Karen was invited to be part of this program!  The official kick-off of the program was Friday, June 4, and started off with a Breakfast Symposium sponsored by Share Our Strength.  Speakers are Secretary of Education Arne Duncan, White House Chef Sam Kass, Share Our Strength Director Billy Shore, and Janet Poppendieck, author of "Free For All: Fixing School Food in America."

The White House event started at noon.  The 'Chefs Move to Schools' program was officially started at a kick-off ceremony held on the south lawn of the White House.  The First Lady was the keynote speaker.

As part of the 'Chefs Move to Schools' program, Chef Karen has adopted Newtown Elementary School in Bucks County and will work with teachers and parents to educate kids about food and nutrition.  By creating healthy dishes that taste good, Personal Chef McGinn will have a unique ability to deliver the message of healthy eating in a fun and appealing way.
