How much room do I need in my freezer?
This depends on the amount of food the chef will be cooking for you and how you want the meals packaged. If you want everything packaged in single servings, then you need space for at least 20 containers (each about the size of a cereal bowl.)
Are you insured?
Yes. The chef carries general liability insurance. She also has a Pennsylvania business license and is a Certified Safe Food Handler with ServSafe.
Do I need to be home when you cook?
No; however you do need to make arrangements for Chef Karen to gain access to your kitchen.
How long will you be at my home?
Chef Karen will be in your home anywhere from 4 - 6 hours.
Do I need to provide any equipment?
No. The chef will bring her own cookware, utensils, bowls, etc. and only needs your stove, oven, microwave, and sink.
How often will I need the service?
That depends on your individual needs. Some clients choose every week, some every two weeks, and some once a month. It depends on how often you need to be free from the stress of preparing meals yourself.
What does the service cost?
Pricing varies depending on the number of entreés and servings being prepared. Please see the Services and Rates page for examples or contact Chef Karen.
How is the food packaged?
Chef Karen uses a variety of containers, such as Versatainer, aluminum, or Pyrex. It all depends on the type of food. Every container is labeled with the contents and heating/serving instructions.
How do I get started?
Contact Chef Karen via phone or email to schedule a complimentary in-home consultation. The chef will sit down with you to complete a comprehensive questionnaire detailing your food preferences and lifestyle requirements. Next, custom menus are created and approved by you and a service day is scheduled.
